The Cuba Police Department has received multiple reports of dogs and other animals running at large within the Village.
For the safety of our residents, children, motorists, and the animals themselves, owners are reminded that allowing animals to roam freely is a violation of Village Ordinance No. 1980-0-1 – Criminal Code. Animals must be properly restrained and under the control of their owner at all times.
Effective immediately, officers will begin issuing citations to owners whose animals are found running at large.
In the near future, an Animal Control Officer will be actively enforcing these violations. Penalties may include fines and, in certain circumstances, confiscation of the animal.
This action is not about punishment — it is about safety, responsibility, and protecting our community. We encourage all pet owners to ensure fences are secure, gates are closed, and animals are properly supervised.
If you have questions regarding animal control ordinances, please contact the Cuba Police Department at 575-289-9157.
Thank you for helping us keep Cuba safe.
