On February 24, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers with the Cuba Police Department, in coordination with deputies from the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office, were alerted to an individual in the area who had multiple outstanding felony warrants.
The individual, identified as Eugene Montoya, was confirmed to have active warrants for:
- Attempt to Commit a Felony (Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon)
- False Imprisonment
- Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance
Mr. Montoya was located walking near the Cuba Police Department and was taken into custody without incident by officers and deputies.
During the arrest, officers allegedly discovered a quantity of methamphetamine in his possession. As a result, he was additionally charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
This arrest reflects the continued cooperation between the Cuba Police Department and the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office in addressing felony offenders within our community.
