The Cuba Police Department would like to provide the community with an update regarding a burglary investigation that occurred earlier this year.
The defendant Isaia Carrillo has entered a No Contest plea to the felony offenses of:
- Non-Residential Burglary
- Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Motor Vehicle
As a result of the conviction, the defendant was sentenced to four (4) years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
The investigation stemmed from the unlawful entry into the Cuba Independent School District, where multiple offices were forcibly entered, as well as the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle connected to the incident.
The Cuba Police Department would like to recognize Sergeant Andy Chapa, who was the investigating officer assigned to this case. His thorough investigation, attention to detail, and dedication to pursuing the case resulted in the successful prosecution and sentencing of the offender.
The Cuba Police Department also extends its appreciation to the Thirteenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office and all those who assisted throughout the investigation and prosecution.
