On March 10, 2026, officers with the Cuba Police Department were conducting routine patrol in the area of Miera Road when an individual believed to be Eugene Montoya was observed fleeing down a nearby ditch bank in an apparent attempt to evade officers.
Mr. Montoya currently had an active warrant for his arrest for Bribery of a Witness (Threats/False Testimony). The charge stems from an investigation in which Mr. Montoya allegedly threatened a victim connected to a previous case involving Attempt to Commit a Felony – Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, False Imprisonment, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, in an effort to discourage that victim from testifying.
Officers from the Cuba Police Department, with assistance from the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search of the surrounding area and located Mr. Montoya in the ditch bank, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
The Cuba Police Department takes threats or intimidation toward victims and witnesses very seriously. Attempting to influence or silence victims undermines the integrity of the criminal justice system and will not be tolerated.
If you are the victim of threats, intimidation, or coercion related to reporting a crime or testifying in court, please contact the Cuba Police Department so we can assist you.
