Today, the Cuba Police Department and the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding suspicious individuals in an orange van parked near several homes. Due to recent burglaries in the area, the caller was concerned about the safety of nearby residences.
Officers and Deputies in the area quickly responded and made contact with a male sitting in the vehicle on a dirt road near the homes.
When asked to provide identification, the individual attempted to conceal his identity by providing false information.
The individual was later identified as Frank Morales, who was found to have an active felony warrant for Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle. Morales was immediately placed under arrest.
Morales later gave consent for Deputies and Officers to search the vehicle. During the search, a rifle was located along with tools commonly associated with burglaries.
In addition to the existing felony warrant, Morales is facing additional charges including:
Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Third Degree Felony)
Possession of Burglary Tools (Fourth Degree Felony)
Concealing Identity (Misdemeanor)
